Naturopath | Counsellor

I’m Sarah Hooper (The Neurodivergent Naturopath) and Counsellor, a passionate paediatric naturopath dedicated to empowering neurodivergent children and their families through holistic, evidence-based care. With a Bachelor of Health Science in Naturopathy and specialised training in herbal medicine, nutrition, Flower Essence Therapy and Iridology. I create personalised treatment strategies that nurture both the body and mind.

As a mother of three neurodivergent children (and being autistic/ADHD myself) I understand the unique challenges of navigating autism, ADHD, ARFID, and sensory processing needs. My background in early childhood education adds an extra layer to my practice, allowing me to blend science-backed knowledge with a compassionate, practical understanding of child development and family dynamics.

Alongside running NeuroThrive, I also work in a busy women’s hormone naturopathic clinic, supporting women through every stage of life, including postpartum recovery, perimenopause, menopause, and hormonal transitions. My approach to care is whole-family centred, helping both children and parents build resilience, balance, and wellness.

At NeuroThrive, home of The Neurodivergent Naturopath, we provide a warm, inclusive space where children and families can flourish. I’m also proud to offer Animal-Assisted Therapy, where my golden retriever therapy dogs, Poppy and Sage, bring comfort, calm, and connection to sessions.

Poppy the golden retriever who offers AAT

Poppy

Poppy is a big SOFTIE, she likes to lounge around & chill out. Poppy LOVES to cuddle, she often provides proprioceptive input by using her weight on your legs (just like the input a weighted blanket provides!).

Her calmness attracts the quieter children, she's often found sitting down with a group of children from the home-school groups enjoying belly rubs and pats.

Sage the golden retriever who offers AAT

Sage

Sage is energetic, vibrant and just LOVES to play, she doesn't mind a cuddle but her true love language is playing a game with you, her favourites are tug-o-war and fetch.

Sage is very in-tune with big emotions, she brings calm to those who need it and will sit beside them to help navigate through those big feelings. She likes to be involved in whatever is going on around her and her skillset is very versatile.

Slinky, who isn't a Animal assisted therapist but she didn't want to miss out on the introductions

Slinky

Slinky is not a therapy dog and chances are you won't get to meet her in real life because she doesn't like to meet new people and she is in her senior years, she just didn't want to miss out on the introductions with her sisters.

Slinky is a sausage dog who loves to sleep on the lounge, this makes up 90% of her life. Slinky thinks that she is a human of the household and often whines when you stop patting her, she also loves a belly scratch!

Our Services

Naturopathic Consultations

We specialise in holistic, evidence-based care for neurodivergent children, including those with ADHD, Autism, ARFID, and associated eating disorders. Our naturopathic consultations are designed to support your child’s unique needs, addressing the root causes of health challenges while empowering families with practical, sustainable solutions.

Counseling with Animal-Assisted Therapy

We understand that traditional talk therapy isn’t always the best fit for neurodivergent children. That’s why our Counselling & Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) sessions are designed to be gentle, engaging, and sensory-friendly, helping children feel safe, supported, and understood.

With the unconditional love and calming presence of our therapy dogs, Poppy & Sage, we create a nurturing environment where children can explore their emotions, build confidence, and develop self-regulation skills without pressure or overwhelm.

Family Wellness

When raising a neurodivergent child, the well-being of the entire family matters. At NeuroThrive Paediatric Health, we take a holistic approach to family wellness, offering support, guidance, and practical strategies to help parents and caregivers navigate the unique challenges (and joys!) of neurodivergence.

We understand that when one member of the family is struggling, it impacts everyone. Our family-centred approachfocuses on improving stress resilience, emotional balance, and overall health for both children and parents.

Client Stories

"Sarah's calmness made her instantly relatable and her accurate insights were amazing. My session with Sarah gave me clarity and tools to move forward with ease, not only for myself - they were tools I could teach my children to help heal their hearts too. I would totally recommend Sarah, and will definitely work with her again in the future"
